Ashford Multi Service Outlet offers you transport for shopping, medical appointments and for social interaction within the local community; Meals on Wheels; a Day Centre for group socialisation; and also a home maintenance (yard maintenance) programme.
Our Service Vehicle is driven by volunteers and is used to provide transport to medical appointments in other towns for eligible people who have no other transport. The service vehicle is available to all eligible clients for transport for medical appointments within a set area. As a general rule, the boundaries are: Toowoomba, Goondiwindi, Warwick, Tamworth and Armidale. Our transport can also assist with getting to and from the Day Centre and other small group needs. This is a very flexible service designed to suit your needs. Due to current demand, if you need the vehicle, ring the office and book as early as possible. Cost for this service depends on where you need to go.
Each fortnight, on pension day, an Access Bus leaves Ashford around 8.45am, returning to Ashford around 2pm. It is a door to door service that travels to Inverell, giving you a chance to run errands, go shopping or just get out for the day.
Each Tuesday we provide a Day Centre service from 10am to 2pm that aims to bring people together for a meal and social activity. Activities vary from craft, painting and bus outings, to pottery, trivia and cards. There are volunteers who assist with the activities, making the day enjoyable, stimulating and fun. We arrange a bus trip outing on the 4th Tuesday of each month. If you would like to join the Day Centre, call the office for more information.
Volunteers are required for the Day Centre, with cooks and kitchen hands needed. If you have some spare time and would like to help out and meet people, please phone the office.
